Frequently Asked Questions
What bike do I bring?
Rides are predominantly off road, single track … although on occasion some pavement is ridden to connect trails. We strongly recommend a full suspension bike, unless you are an experienced hard tail rider. A minimum of 4” of travel is preferred, with tires suitable for rugged terrain. Our guides find tubeless tires with slime on 2.35” or 2.50” tires to be superb for our riding conditions, such as the Maxxis Minion DHR or High Roller.
All riders are responsible for the condition of their own bike. If our guides deem a riders bike to be poorly maintained, that may affect the safety or pace of the group, they may be asked to rent a bike, or return at a later date with the repairs made. This requirement is to enhance the pleasure of the group ride as a whole.
Can I rent a bike?
Yes, we have discounts for group riders! We have available and entire fleet of newer plush, full suspension bikes with hydraulic disk brakes for a safe and comfortable ride. A great way to test different equipment, before you make an investment in your own. You can’t rent better bikes in the area, and the best news … you don’t have to clean it at the end of your ride !
What Essential Items will I need to bring?
What Items are advised?
Be comfortable and prepared for the day . . .
1. Energy bars and snacks: You will be burning some energy!
2. Spare clothes for after ride leisure time: Wet, sweaty clothes, yuk !
3. Electrolytes: for your water bottle or chew blocks. Can make a difference in your energy.
Do I need to schedule in advance?
Yes … call or email us to book your place, ideally a minimum of 2 weeks in advance so we can schedule your appropriate guide. The more notice we have the more specifically we can tailor the rides to client requirements. Deposit can be made at the time of booking. Deposit can be paid using PayPal, payable to Rumble & Associates Services, LLC and must be to us 5 working days prior to the ride.
What happens if I need to cancel?
Because spaces are limited and rides are based upon bookings, you’ll receive a full refund if you cancel 5 or more days in advance. We are unable to refund within 5 days of your ride, as we need this time to re-book a new rider. Sorry!
How do we find you?
From I-17: you will take the Hwy 179 Sedona Exit, heading west. You will arrive in the Village of Oak Creek in approximately 6 miles. Travel north through the Village, just past the 4th round-a-bout, across from the Circle K, you will see the Bike and Bean Shop on the left (west) side of Hwy 179. Just past the Circle K is the Trail Head parking lot for Bell Rock Pathways. We will meet here.
From Sedona Hwy 89: You will drive south to the Village of Oak Creek, approximately 7 miles from Tlaquepaque Plaza. The Bell Rock Trail Head Parking lot is on the East side of Hwy 179, and is just before the first round-a-bout in the Village.
How Fit do I need to be?
Private group rides: are tailored to cater to any level of riding, including first time riders. Be specific when you book, and we will accommodate your pace.
Open group rides: are graded by levels for your safety and pleasure. Sedona is varied terrain, with many sprints, rather than long spins. Our more technical trails can be demanding, even for the fittest riders. Allow for our altitude of 4000’ if you are from sea level.
What happens if it rains?
We encourage you to pray for rain! Our trails are most perfect after a moderate rain shower … tacky and dust free. In the event of extreme conditions, raging with precipitation, we will cancel and/or reschedule.
What happens if my bike breaks?
Some repairs can be dealt with on the trail with our experienced guides, in a short amount of time. Support is usually quickly dispatched in the event of a rental bike failure. We encourage you to have your own bike regularly maintained as to avoid unwanted repair adventures.
Who is responsible for my safety?
YOU ARE. Our guides will show you the way, take your picture and give instructional coaching, but if at any time you are outside of your confidence and skill level, let the guide know immediately and an alternate route more suitable will be taken. Guides will offer advice as to riding technique, but cannot ride the bike for you. It must be remembered that mountain biking is potentially risky and can cause serious injuries when over-confidence and under-skilled is combined. The guides can each show you a number of scars to remind them their love of mountain biking can hurt some days. Most unintentional partings with a bike will result in nothing worse than a few bruises and scratches. However, please ride to “ride another day”.
